Scalie Breasted Lorikeets

Behaviour: highly energetic, noisy, and gregarious

Breeding notes:  Two to three eggs are laid by scaly-breasted lorikeets. While the male feeds her on the nest, the female incubates for 24 to 25 days. The species is known to reproduce year-round in captivity, with chicks fledged in 6–8 weeks. They exhibit courtship behaviours including bopping and hopping, and they frequently feed and preen together in strong pairs. The young, which fledge in 42–58 days, are fed by both parents.In a single season, they can give birth to two broods. They can be bred individually or in colonies. Although it is preferable to wait until they are older, some chickens can begin producing eggs as early as 10 months, and cocks are ready at 12 months. They can be maintained with their parents, however during breeding seasons, they may act aggressively.  It’s possible that they will breed with Rainbow Lorikeets.
